Magical Explosion FTK
Everybody knows how much I love fast, combo-oriented decks, and especially FTK strategies in particular. So imagine my surprise when, one day, out of complete boredom, I decided to design an Advanced Format Magical Explosion FTK, and found that it was actually consistent! Playing the build in question, I went 3-0 heading into round 4 of a Brickworks tournament: I lost that round to dead draws, and then lost the last round to some kid who sacked his single copy of Effect Veiler in his first five cards both games (I was absolutely furious about that for the rest of the night, one of the very few times I've actually been angry, but that's unimportant). Needless to say, despite the Effect Veiler incident, I was very happy.
Now, I've been fiddling around with a few decks lately, trying to decide what I want to play at not only the Good Games 5K Qualifier on March 13th, but also at Nats later this year. One of such decks is a new version of my Magical Explosion FTK; I dropped all of the search cards (Toon Table of Contents, Thunder Dragon and Spell Power Grasp), finding them to clog too easily and create dead hands, and replaced them with a delicately chosen suite of additional draw cards. So far, I've played about forty games, and the FTK percentage is about 70%, which is more than the previous build.
Monsters: 11
3 Royal Magical Library
3 Broww, Huntsman of Dark World
3 Destiny Hero - Dreadmaster
2 Destiny Hero - Plasma
Spells: 26
3 Trade-in
3 Hand Destruction
3 Dark World Dealings
3 Upstart Goblin
3 Into the Void
3 Golden Bamboo Sword
3 Broken Bamboo Sword
1 Allure of Darkness
1 Destiny Draw
1 Card Destruction
1 Pot of Dualty
1 Giant Trunade
Traps: 3
1 Magical Explosion
1 Wall of Revealing Light
1 Life Equalizer

Re: Magical Explosion FTK
looks really solid man.
its always a shame when you get sacked by a kid *cough cough*
but it happens.
this would be nuts in Traditional.

Thanks, Nick. As with every deck I design, I've been working on it for a long time, making sure it's absolutely perfect before I actually do anything with it. I'm seriously considering playing this in the 5K Qualifier.
I have designed a Traditional Format list similar to this one but using Magical Scientist as its Win Condition, and yes, it's FTK percentage is about 95%, as you would expect from Traditional. That one, though, will be posted in my blog in a few months (I'm only going to be posting a few FTKs, so I'm spacing them out as much as possible).

I think it is, but I'm not sure. The winner of the 5K at the end of the year gets travel to Sydney to play in the Good Games mini-Nats, so I don't know. If you want to, though, you could come down.

The 5K Qualifier is next Sunday (the 13th of March), and it starts at 11:00am. Heres the link to the 5K details page: http://www.goodgames.com.au/news/36
If you guys come down, I might have to come over there for the next Traditional Win-A-Box. In fact, I might do that anyway: when is the next Win-A-Box, Mikal?

Hmm, i'll see if i am able to come.....Wish it was a little later down the track though.
The next Win-A-Box for Traditional is the 27th, i won't be able to attend myself, i have a christening to go
to.

yeah i dont think i can make it if it was like 1-2 months i might b able to...
Re: Magical Explosion FTK
The 27th. Okay, I'll see if I can get some cheap flights. Oh, but if you're not going to be there, Nick, it won't be worth it. Maybe the next one, then.
Sorry about the link, the full stop at the end of the sentence got added to the URL and screwed it up. I fixed it in the original post.
It's no big deal if you guys can't make it to this one. They have a Qualifier every month.
